Build on a strong foundation
If your faith feels like it never really took off, you are not alone. Often a few of the first stones were simply never laid. And it is never too late to lay them.
A healthy start with God
Think of the first days of a newborn baby. A healthy start needs a few simple things: breath, warmth, food, a family. The Bible describes the beginning of our life with God in a similar way.
Many of us came to faith in a hurry: at a camp, in a crisis, or with a short prayer beside a friend. God heard that prayer. But sometimes no one had the time to walk with us through the rest. Like a house where a few foundation stones were never set, everything above can feel a little shaky.
This is not about blame, and it does not mean your faith is not real. It simply means that something good is still waiting for you.

“What shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 2:37–38
Five foundations of a healthy start
Peter’s answer on the day the Church was born, together with Hebrews 6:1–2, gives us five foundations every believer needs.
Turning to God
Not just feeling sorry, but a real change of direction: “Lord, my life is Yours now.”
Acts 3:19
Trusting Jesus
Resting on what Jesus did for you, not on how good you are.
Ephesians 2:8–9
Baptism
The first step of obedience Jesus asked of every believer: a new beginning, marked in public.
Romans 6:4
Filled with the Holy Spirit
God Himself living in you, to comfort, guide, change and empower you. Not only knowing about Him, but receiving Him.
Luke 11:13 · Ephesians 5:18
Living with eternity in view
Jesus rose from the dead, and so will we. Knowing where we are going gives hope and purpose to today.
John 11:25 · Hebrews 6:2
Ask yourself, quietly before God
- Can I remember a time when I really turned from my old way of living to God?
- Am I trusting Jesus, or am I still trying to earn God’s love?
- Have I been baptized since I put my trust in Jesus?
- Have I asked God to fill me with His Holy Spirit, and do I see His work in me?
- Do I know what happens after death, and does it give me hope?
If one of these questions leaves you unsure, that is good news. God shows us what is missing because He wants to give it to us. Choose one, and start there.
